Buildertrend is powerful, but plenty of contractors find it more than they need, or priced out of reach. Here are the alternatives worth a look, and who each one suits.

Save time, win more jobs, increase profit, and get paid faster with Bolster.

Short answer: the best Buildertrend alternative depends on why you are leaving. If you want faster estimating and proposals that sell, choose Bolster. If budgets and job costing matter most, choose JobTread. Design-led remodelers often prefer Houzz Pro, and Contractor Foreman is the lowest-cost all-in-one.
Buildern and Projul are solid all-round platforms, and Jobber fits service and repair businesses rather than project builders.

Price. Buildertrend is quoted rather than listed, rises with construction volume and often carries an onboarding fee.
Complexity. It does a great deal, which can mean a long setup and features a small team never uses.
Estimating. There is no AI estimating, and prices come from a catalogue you maintain yourself.
Selling. Proposals are template-based and selections are a separate process from the proposal.
If none of these bother you, Buildertrend remains a strong choice, particularly for larger builders who want deep project management. For a feature-by-feature view, see Bolster vs Buildertrend.
Bolster suits contractors whose bottleneck is the front of the job: estimating, proposals and getting paid. AI drafts estimates priced with live regional costs, clients choose upgrades and pay the deposit inside the proposal, and the schedule, budget, purchase orders and progress payments are generated from the estimate.
Pricing is published, does not rise with your construction volume and has no onboarding fee. Current jobs can be imported, with 1:1 onboarding.
Price: From $155/mo billed annually (Core, 1 user) or $189 month to month; Pro $399/mo annually with 3 users (from Bolster's pricing page, checked October 30, 2026)
JobTread is the most common alternative for contractors who like Buildertrend's scope but want simpler, transparent pricing. It is strong on budgets, purchase orders, job costing and AIA-style pay applications.

Houzz Pro adds 3D floor plans, mood boards and the Houzz marketplace to estimating, proposals, a client dashboard and invoicing.
Price: From $199/mo (Pro, 1 user); annual subscription per FAQ (from Houzz Pro's pricing page, checked October 30, 2026)
Contractor Foreman covers most of what Buildertrend does at a fraction of the price, with flat plans and optional 1build pricing.

Price: From $169/mo billed annually ($2,030/yr), or $199/mo billed monthly (from Buildxact's pricing page, checked October 30, 2026)
Jobber is excellent for recurring service and repair work, with scheduling, route planning, quotes and invoicing. It is not built for multi-week projects with subs, budgets and change orders.
Price: From $29/mo billed annually, or $49/mo billed monthly (Core, 1 user), list price after promo (from Jobber's pricing page, checked October 30, 2026)
Export your data: clients, vendors, cost items and open jobs.
Shortlist two tools and rebuild one recent job in each, from estimate to first invoice.
Ask about migration. Bolster imports items, clients, vendors and current jobs with 1:1 onboarding; JobTread and Projul also offer migration help.
Run both in parallel for new jobs only until the open Buildertrend jobs finish.
It depends on why you are switching. Bolster is best for faster estimating and proposals that sell, JobTread for job costing, Houzz Pro for design-led remodelers and Contractor Foreman for the lowest cost. Buildern and Projul are good all-round options.
Yes. Contractor Foreman and Joist start at a fraction of the cost, Houzz Pro has a free plan, and Bolster and JobTread publish their prices with no onboarding fee. Buildertrend quotes its pricing, which rises with construction volume.
JobTread is simpler and publishes its pricing, and many builders prefer its job costing. Buildertrend has deeper project management and a larger community. See our JobTread comparison for how both compare with Bolster.
Remodelers usually want fast estimates, options clients can choose and change orders. Bolster, Houzz Pro and JobTread are the most common choices; see our best remodeling software guide.
Most alternatives can import clients, vendors and cost items from a spreadsheet export. Bolster also imports current jobs and includes 1:1 onboarding; ask each vendor what they migrate for you.
How we put this together: Bolster makes one of the products on this list, so we have tried hard to be fair to the others. Each vendor's price comes from its own pricing page on the date above, and features come from the vendors' own websites and help centres. We list each tool for the kind of contractor it suits best rather than ranking them, because the right choice depends on your trade, team size and how you sell. Prices change; check the vendor's site before you buy. Spot something out of date? Email support@bolsterbuilt.com and we will fix it.
General contractors using Bolster are, on average, winning 15% bigger jobs, 20% more often.
