Purchase orders
Overview
A lump-sum vendor order (purchase order) lets you send a vendor a single total price for the order instead of pricing it item by item. You create it from the project's Vendor orders page, select the vendor, and enter the total.
Open Vendor Orders for the Project
- In the left-hand menu, click Jobs.
- Click Job list and select the estimate. You can also click Pipeline and select it from there.
- In the estimate's left sidebar, under Production, click Vendor orders.
Create the Lump-Sum Vendor Order
- Click Create new. The Create vendor order window opens, with the project already filled in under Assign to job.
- Under Vendor, click Search or add vendor and select the vendor from your list. To add a vendor that isn't on the list, click Create new.
- Optionally, click Add description or Add files.
- Optionally, click the settings tab for more detail.
- Scroll to the bottom of the window and enter the lump-sum price for the order in the Order total field (for example, 1200.00).
- Click Save to save the order, or click Save & send to send it to the vendor.
Why This Matters
- You can send a vendor one total price for the order without pricing each item.
- The order is created from the project, so it is already assigned to the right job.
Summary
To create a lump-sum vendor order, open the project, click Vendor orders, then click Create new. Select the vendor, optionally add a description, files or settings, then scroll to the bottom and enter the lump-sum total. Click Save, or Save & send to send it to the vendor.
