Overview
An assembly is how Bolster categorizes or groups the items in your estimate. Think of it like a folder that you put your items into — you can have main folders and subfolders, all as a way to organize and group related line items in your proposal.
Before You Begin
- Have an estimate open and ready to work in.
- In this example, we'll add an assembly to an existing estimate. Click the blue Plus Item button.
- Choose Assembly from the menu.
- Once added, the assembly displays a trifecta-of-cubes icon (representing a group of items), and it will already contain one item by default.
- Add Line Items to the Assembly: Add line items into the assembly, or move existing items into it as you wish, to group related items together.
- Sub-Assemblies: To further organize your proposal, you can create sub-assemblies.
- Click the + to add a new line below an existing assembly.
- Convert this new line into a sub-assembly and add more line items to it.
- Once you're finished working on your assembly, be sure to click Save Estimate Changes to save your progress before closing your work.
How to Delete an Item or Assembly
- Navigate to the item or assembly you wish to delete within your Bolster interface.
- Place your cursor over the item or assembly to reveal additional options.
- Look for the 6 dots located to the left of the item or assembly, and click on them to open the options menu.
- Select Delete from the menu to remove the item or assembly.
Additional Notes
- Ensure you have selected the correct item or assembly before proceeding with deletion, as this action cannot be undone.
- This method applies to both individual items and entire assemblies within Bolster.
Why This Matters
- Assemblies let you group related items together in your proposals, similar to organizing items into folders and subfolders.
- Grouping items allows you to collapse sections as needed, making complex proposals easier to navigate and understand.
- You can efficiently manage and customize your items and assemblies, including deleting them when needed.
Summary
Creating an assembly involves adding a new item to your estimate via the Plus Item button and choosing Assembly, then adding or moving line items into it, optionally nesting sub-assemblies for further organization, and saving your changes. Assemblies and their items can also be deleted at any time using the options menu
