Overview
A text block item is a no-cost item you can add to your estimate to display text, such as an outline of a solution or other notes for your client. Instead of the cube icon used for regular items, a text block displays with a text symbol.
Before You Begin
- Identify where in your estimate you want to add the text block and what information you want it to communicate.
- In your Estimate, click the Plus Item button.
- Scroll down to More, then select Text Block.
- Confirm the item was added correctly by checking that it displays with the text symbol instead of the cube icon used for regular items.
- Name the text block item as you want.
- Add a description as you want.
- Click into the background of the item to add any other text you would like.
Tips & Best Practices
- Use It for Outlines: Many contractors use text block items to outline a proposed solution within the estimate.
- Check the Icon: Confirm you added a text block and not a regular item by checking that the item shows the text symbol.
Why This Matters
- Lets you add explanatory text directly into your estimate without affecting cost, which is useful for outlining solutions or adding notes for your client.
Summary
Adding a text block item lets you insert a no-cost text entry into your estimate by adding a Text Block item from the Plus Item menu, then naming it and entering your description or notes.
