Overview
The upgrade tool, also called the simple list tool, lets you add upgrade options to an individual line item in your estimate. You can have Bolster add upgrades for you, add suggested options, build options from scratch, or bring them in from your catalog.
Open the Line Item
- In the left-hand menu, click Jobs.
- Click Job list and select the estimate. You can also click Pipeline and select it from there.
- In the estimate, find the line item you want to add upgrades to (for example, Kitchen Sink).
- Click the cube icon next to the line item's name. The item's settings open.
Option 1: Let Bolster Add Upgrades for You
- Next to Sales, optionality and upgrades, click Add upgrades for me.
This uses Bolster's construction intelligence and AutoCost to add multiple upgrades to the line item, using products from Home Depot and Lowe's in the United States, or Home Depot and Rona in Canada.
Option 2: Build Upgrades With the Simple List Tool
- Click Sales, optionality and upgrades to expand it.
- Under Add upgrades for this item?, select Simple list.
- Click Get started!. The Selection options editor opens, with the current line item shown as the Current option.
- Add options in any of these ways:
- Click Add upgrades for me to have Bolster add upgrades for you.
- Under Suggested options, add suggested options from AutoCost.
- Click Add another option to build an option from scratch or bring one in from your catalog.
- In Selection name, enter a name for the selection (for example, Kitchen Sink). This field is required.
- Optionally, add a Selection description with an explanation or instructions for your customers.
- Click Save and close.
- In Confirm, your changes are saved to your catalog. To also save them to this project, click Yes, go ahead.
Why This Matters
- You can offer upgrades on each individual line item instead of a single fixed product.
- You can fill in upgrades in three ways: Bolster's construction intelligence, suggested options, or options from your catalogs.
Summary
To add upgrades to a line item, open the estimate and click the cube icon next to the item. Click Add upgrades for me to have Bolster add upgrades automatically, or expand Sales, optionality and upgrades, select Simple list and click Get started! In the Selection options editor, add upgrades for you, suggested options or other options, name the selection, then click Save and close.
