Overview
You can save the tax rates you use in your company settings, then apply a tax rate to each estimate from its job totals. If you have multiple tax rates, you can save them all and choose the one you need on each estimate.
Add Tax Rates in Settings
- In the bottom left corner of the left-hand menu, click Settings.
- Under Assets, click Tax rates.
- Click Create new. The Create sales tax window opens.
- In State/province, select the state or province this sales tax applies to.
- In Tax name, enter a name for the tax rate.
- In Tax percentage, enter the rate.
- Click Save.
- Repeat steps 3 to 7 for each tax rate you use.
Apply a Tax Rate to an Estimate
- In the left-hand menu, click Jobs.
- Click Job list and select the estimate. You can also click Pipeline and select it from there.
- In the bottom right of the estimate, click the job total. The Job totals panel opens.
- Next to Tax, click the tax rate dropdown.
- Select a tax rate you have saved, or one of the tax rates already listed. To add a new tax rate from here, click Create new.
Why This Matters
- Saving your tax rates once means you can choose them on any estimate instead of entering them each time.
- If you work with multiple tax rates, you can keep them all listed and pick the right one for each estimate.
Summary
To add tax to your estimates, go to Settings > Tax rates and click Create new to save your tax rates. Then open an estimate, click the job total at the bottom, and choose a tax rate from the Tax dropdown, or click Create new to add one from there.
