Overview
You can apply a discount to a whole estimate as either a percentage or a dollar value. You can add it once the estimate is near completion or while you are still building it. The discount changes the job total shown to your client on the proposal and PDF, but does not change the pricing of the line items in your estimate.
Apply a Discount
- In the left-hand menu, click Jobs.
- Click Job list and select the estimate. You can also click Pipeline and select it from there.
- On the Estimate page, hover over the Job total in the bottom right corner until it is highlighted, then click it. The Job totals panel opens.
- Next to Discount, click the dropdown and select % for a percentage discount or $ for a dollar value discount.
- Click the Discount field and enter the amount (for example, 10 for a 10% discount).
The Job totals panel updates to show the discount amount, the adjusted Profit, Subtotal and Grand total, and the Job total changes to match.
How the Discount Is Applied
- The discount does not change the pricing of the line items in your estimate. Your original estimate pricing stays the same.
- The discounted total is shown on your proposal and PDF when you send them to your client.
Why This Matters
- You can offer a client a discount on the whole project without editing individual line items.
- You can see how the discount affects your profit before you send the proposal.
Summary
To apply a discount, open the estimate and click the Job total in the bottom right corner. In the Job totals panel, choose a percentage or dollar discount and enter the amount. The job total updates and the discount appears on the proposal and PDF, while your line item pricing stays the same.
