Overview
You can add a base labor cost or a minimum labor cost to a line item. This is useful when you want to make sure an item covers a base or minimum cost, even if your estimate for that item doesn't reach a certain threshold.
Open the Item's Labor Options
- In the left-hand menu, click Jobs.
- Click Job list and select the estimate. You can also click Pipeline and select it from there.
- In the estimate, click the cube icon on the line item (for example, Countertop). The item's details open.
- Click Unit pricing to expand it.
- Next to Labor costs, click Labor options.
Add a Base or Minimum Labor Cost
- Under the labor options, click one of the following:
- Add base labor cost: Adds a base labor cost to the item.
- Add minimum labor cost: When the total labor cost for the item doesn't reach the minimum you set, it is bumped up to the minimum automatically.
- In the field that appears (for example, What is the minimum labor cost for this item?), enter the amount.
Why This Matters
- Small jobs still cover your minimum labor cost, because the item's labor cost is bumped up automatically when it falls below the minimum.
- You can build a base labor cost into an item without changing its other pricing.
Summary
To add a base or minimum labor cost, click the cube icon on the line item, expand Unit pricing, and click Labor options next to Labor costs. Click Add base labor cost or Add minimum labor cost, then enter the amount.
